SCAM ALERT – TEXT SCAMS ARE ON THE RISE!

Scammers are active every day, and text message scams are becoming increasingly common. Protect yourself and your finances by staying alert and following these important tips:

HOW TO AVOID TEXT SCAMS:

  • Read carefully and slowly. If a message urges quick action, it’s likely a scam. Just delete it.
  • Do not respond to unknown numbers. Legitimate senders will find other ways to contact you.
  • Verify contact information. If a text asks you to call a bank or company, look up the number independently.
  • Never use the number provided in the message.
  • Watch for red flags.

Be cautious if the message:

    • Asks you to call a number or click a link
    • Claims you owe money
    • Mentions cryptocurrency — delete and block the sender immediately
