Stephanie Guillory, Treasurer

Stephanie was born in San Francisco and raised in the Bay Area during the hayday of Flower Power, which she somehow avoided. She graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a BA in Ergonomics & PhysEd and moved to Sacramento in 1983 when a man made her an irresistible proposal.

She has had a varied career path including Medical Transcription for Sutter Hospitals and later, Human Resources for Sutter Hospitals, Maryland Casualty Insurance, and Commerce Security Bank.  She worked mainly in Benefits but also did event planning and staff coordination.  She also owns and operates an internet-based custom embroidery company.

She calls herself a “Perpetual (aka Chronic) volunteer” and sees her life’s work as being in service to others. Her volunteer activities include volunteering for American Cancer Society and serving on the boards for Habitat for Humanity Sacramento, Sacramento Tall Club, and Foothill Ctr for Spiritual Living in Auburn.  While at Foothill CSL, she took on the position of Treasurer and planned many fundraisers and auctions. She knows her way around a computer quite well as she designed and maintains her company’s website.

She retired from WOP (Working for Other People) in 2014 and moved to SCLH and, after renting here for 4 years bought her home here in 2018.  She had dreamed of living here in a home of her own and is grateful that it has worked out so well.  When she first arrived here and had a meeting with her Mailbox Captain, she didn’t give NW much thought.  Soon she realized what a major contribution NW makes for the safety and involvement of all the SCLH residents so she volunteered to be a Mailbox Captain. Fairly soon thereafter she took on the role of Village 36 Coordinator in the last year or so.

Activities like playing golf with the SCLH Singles Club, working on her genealogy, and various painting and ceramics classes have provided many joys and frustrations!  Surviving the Covid years has given her a new “Go Do It” attitude toward travel and being involved with the great people of Neighborhood Watch and SCLH. Checking off items in her “Travel Bucket List” has become her top priority for this year because of the postponements due to Covid.

Her personal motto is, “Life is not about woes, it’s about wheeeeees!”
