DENISE HEXOM, Director
Denise was born and raised in California but also lived in Australia and Connecticut. She began her career as a fourth-grade teacher then went on to become a principal, assistant superintendent (Lincoln-Western Placer Unified School District), then superintendent in Connecticut and California.
After retiring, she began her second career as a university professor, retiring on June 30th as assistant dean. She also owned an educational consulting firm, which worked with 34 school districts throughout California to improve the educational performance of their students. She has written numerous journal articles and presented at conferences around the world her research on students with disabilities.
She has served on many committees and been a member of American Association of University Professors, California Association of School Administrators, Rotary International, American Cancer Society, Association for Retarded Citizens, Council for Exceptional Children, and been an advocate for children with disabilities. Since August 2017 she has enjoyed her new life in LHSC with husband, Gary, exercising, traveling, and participating in many of the exciting and fun activities at Lincoln Hills Sun City.
Denise has been a member of Neighborhood Watch for the past 5 years where she has served in many capacities, such as a captain, coordinator, director, NW Treasurer, and NW Training Coordinator. In addition to her current duties as a director, she is also the Neighborhood Watch Grant Writer. Her comprehensive knowledge of grant management and her proven track record of success in securing grants during her career as a school superintendent and an assistant dean have been an invaluable asset to Neighborhood Watch and the quality of our grant requests.
