CHIEF DOUG LEE RETIRING
Chief Lee retiring – Lieutenant Matt Alves to be appointed Chief
| Jennifer Hanson, Lincoln’s City Manager, has announced that Public Safety Chief Doug Lee is retiring at the end of May and that she will appoint Lieutenant Matt Alves as the new Public Safety Chief.
Chief Lee has provided leadership as Lincoln’s Chief of Police since January of 2017, and as the Public Safety Chief (Police and Fire) since July 2019. During his time as Chief he has focused on community engagement, upgrading safety equipment and technology, and hiring the best employees possible. “It has been an honor and privilege to serve the residents, business owners, and visitors in Lincoln”, stated Chief Lee. “I am incredibly proud of all of our employees and their efforts to maintain a high level of public safety in our community. I am also thankful for the support we receive from this community and for the many Lincoln residents that I have become friends with.” |

City Manager Jennifer Hanson noted that “Chief Lee will be deeply missed by the community, staff, coworkers, and the City Council. His actions were based on the safety of our residents, compassion and empathy for his employees and residents, and commitment to community service. Chief Lee’s strong morals, honesty, and integrity are mirrored by his dedicated staff in both Police and Fire.
Although, the chief’s absence will be realized, I am confident that the void will be filled with staff dedicated to upholding the community’s expectations of professional policing and firefighting.”
Chief Lee looks forward to spending more time with family (especially his one-year-old grandson), relaxing at his cabin in Truckee, riding his unicycles, and finding meaningful volunteer opportunities.
