Recent Incidents in Lincoln Hills

1…..Empty boxes were found on the street in village 5B. The V5B Mailbox Captain, Helen Borchelt, was able to determine that the boxes belong to residents in the 200 block of Lariat Lp (V6) and the 500 block of Northfield Ln (V8A.) These residents were not aware that mail had been delivered and stolen from their front porches. The victims have been told that a police report should be made so that Lincoln Police will be aware. Helen did a GREAT job using the Neighborhood Watch system to locate and contact these victims. She contacted Alerts Coordinator Mary Cranston for assistance. Mary provided contact information for the village coordinators who then asked captains to contact the victims. (Both villages 6 & 8A back to Ferrari Ranch Rd, golf course & Ingram Pkwy)

2….One of our residents received an email allegedly from Microsoft stating that she had been charged $499.00 and to call if there was any question. The resident called the number and was talked into giving her bank information in order to get a refund. When she realized that this was a SCAM she went to her bank and was able to change the account number and did not lose any money.

The short list regarding scams:

1) Phone: Just Say NO & HANG UP
2) Email: Delete
3) Online: Look for “https” at the beginning of the address or a padlock next to the address.

NEVER GIVE OUT PERSONAL INFORMATION TO SOMEONE OR ANY COMPANY THAT YOU DO NOT KNOW. THESE SCAMMERS ARE VERY CLEVER AND MAY EVEN KNOW SOME INFORMATION ABOUT YOU BUT DON’T BE FOOLED. IF YOU ARE CONTACTED BY PHONE AND BECOME SUSPICIOUS, JUST HANG UP.

3…..Some person(s) unknown stole three small Maple trees in ceramic pots from a residence in the 1100 block of Fairway Valley Ln. This occurred sometime between Thursday, 06/18/20 PM and 06/19/20 AM. There are no known suspects at this time. (V18 backs to Orchard Creek Lodge & golf course)

WE LIVE IN A RELATIVELY SAFE COMMUNITY HOWEVER, FROM TIME TO TIME THERE ARE OPPORTUNIST THIEVES WHO DRIVE THROUGH OUR VILLAGES LOOKING FOR SOMETHING TO STEAL. THEY LOOK FOR EASY TARGETS, I.E.: OPEN GARAGE DOORS, WINDOWS, UNLOCKED CARS WITH VALUABLES EXPOSED.

The police cannot be everywhere, therefore residents need to be alert and report any suspicious persons or vehicles. This is the mission of Neighborhood Watch: Observe and Report.

Call IMMEDIATELY to give police time to arrive.
If it’s an emergency call 911, non-emergency call 916 645-4040.
