Alert_3596_1.jpgOne of our residents reported that he was taken in by a “Scammer” for $500. He received a phone call in which the “Scammer”, allegedly an Apple technician, told him that his computer had been hacked and contained a virus. He was instructed to go to the Safeway and purchase a $500 “Google gift card”. The resident was then instructed to read the numbers on the card to the “Scammer” and his computer would be cleared of this virus. He did this and a few minutes later the “Scammer” called back stating that the numbers didn’t work and to go buy another $500 card. The resident became suspicious and contacted “Apple” and they advised him that this was a Scam.
