Lincoln is the fourth-safest city in California, according to the 2025 SafeWise Safest Cities report.
Lincoln has a rate of 1.7 violent crimes per 1,000 people and 7.0 property crimes per 1,000 people, according to the report.
Mayor Holly Andreatta said she’s incredibly proud of Lincoln, which was ranked No. 7 last year.
“This is a reflection of the continued efforts of our public safety staff, our Neighborhood Watch committees, businesses, residents and city staff all working together to make Lincoln a desirable place to live and raise a family,” Andreatta shared. “We’ve accomplished this together and it is something to be celebrated.”
Council member Whitney Eklund said safety is part of the community’s culture.
“I believe this ranking reflects the values of the people who live here. As a community, we prioritize safety, and that’s one of the reasons most of us choose to live here. We consistently advocate for and support our law enforcement, and in turn, they understand how important that responsibility is to us,” she explained. “It’s cyclical and relational: You protect what you want to keep. Moving from seventh to fourth in just one year makes me think these efforts are having a compounding effect. When safety is part of a community’s culture, it builds on itself, and that’s exactly what I think we’re seeing in Lincoln.”
Matt Alves, Lincoln’s public safety chief, said this is a significant improvement from last year.
“This progress reflects the dedication of the men and women of the Lincoln Police Department and our strong collaboration with city leadership, the District Attorney’s Office and, most importantly, our residents,” he stated. “We remain committed to sustaining and enhancing this safety through continued vigilance and community engagement.”
