Suspicious Occurrence

Friday 01/10/25 at 7:20 AM

One of our residents was walking her dog on Stoneridge Blvd and Spring Valley Pkwy when she observed the below listed vehicle parked next to the curb. She thought that this was unusual as vehicles don’t usually park on Stoneridge. As she continued her walk and got closer to the parked vehicle the woman listed below “jumped out of the backseat of the vehicle and asked our resident if she had a gas can at home.” The resident answered NO, but she offered to help the woman. The woman then asked to use the resident’s phone to call her daughter. The resident did not give the woman her phone but offered to call for her. The woman gave the resident three different numbers to call and none of them worked. The woman then asked to use the resident’s AAA card. At this point the resident became nervous and told the woman that she was calling 911 to get her some help. The woman started screaming at the resident stating that she (the resident) had ruined the woman’s life and that she didn’t have a driver’s license or a vehicle registration, and that the resident was a bad person. The resident walked away as this woman kept screaming at her. Later that day the resident was advised by a friend, that the woman had been arrested by the Lincoln Police.

**Woman listed above: White female, approximately 40 yrs, 5’7″ +/- , dark hair.

**Vehicle listed above: Blue 4dr. (No further description)

We do live in a relatively safe community however there are opportunists/thieves who drive, walk or bicycle through our villages looking for easy  marks. WE MUST ALWAYS  BE AWARE AND ALERT. In this case the resident handled the situation very well. She kept her distance from the subject and called the police.

Coyotes

The resident, mentioned above, had a very interesting morning! Prior to the above incident our resident, walking her dog on Stoneridge Blvd, had two coyotes follow her. Fortunately, she was able to scare them away.   Note: There have been several reported sightings of coyotes in our community so be alert. Coyotes can usually be scared away by standing your ground, yelling and waving your arms.

Attempted Scam

A  resident received an anonymous email in which the emailer/scammer stated that he/she had been watching the resident and that the scammer knew that he and his wife had been doing “nasty” things including watching pornographic films. The scammer knew the resident’s name, address, phone numbers plus other family information. The scammer threatened to send this information to everyone on the resident’s contact list unless he/she was paid $2,000 in Bitcoin in the next twenty-four hours. The resident was advised to disregard this threat and to just delete the email.  In trying to figure out how this scammer had obtained the resident’s information it was learned that this resident does use a lot of websites. Most websites give you the option of excluding personal information, but many make it difficult. Registering to purchase something online requires providing your email address which sometimes can be sold to others. This may or may not have been the source of  the resident’s information leak.
