  1. CALL BARRY JOHNSON (NW Lincoln Police Liaison) at 916 434-6538 – He will interview the victim.
  2. SUBMIT ONLINE INCIDENT REPORT – must be prepared by victim or mailbox captain. The purpose of this report is to obtain the victim’s contact information.
  3. SEND EMAIL TO: alerteditor@sclhwatch.org
  4. CALL MARY CRANSTON (NW ALERTS Coordinator) at 916 434-5362 – Mary will notify Barry.

SUSPICIOUS OCCURRENCE

A resident in the 1600 block of Monument Dr reports that on Friday 05/31/24 the “below listed subject” came to her front door at 9:15AM. The resident looked through the peep hole in the door and did not recognize the subject. He rang the doorbell, knocked very hard on the door then tried the doorknob in an attempt to open the door. This resident did not speak to the individual or open the door.  After a few minutes the individual left. This resident notified the Lincoln Police Department and shortly thereafter she left her residence for an appointment. She cruised the area in search of the individual to no avail.

SUBJECT DESCRIPTION

White male, 50-60 yrs., 5’11”, 250#, wearing blue shirt and a blue baseball cap.

This subject may have simply made a mistake and got the wrong residence. His reason for attempting entry is unknown at this time. This resident very smartly had her door locked and did not open it to this stranger. She could have spoken to him through the door or a side window, but she was alone and scared.  ONCE YOU OPEN YOUR DOOR YOU LOSE THAT BARRIER OF PROTECTION AND YOU BECOME VERY VULNERABLE.  In situations like this do not hesitate to call the police non-emergency number 916-645-4040 or if an emergency call 911.

This is a good example of why you should always keep your doors locked and windows shut when not in use.

SUSPICIOUS OCCURRENCE

A resident in the 500 block of Oriole Ct reports that sometime Wednesday 06/12/24 night or Thursday 06/13/24 afternoon, the latch on the side gate was forced open. The latch was bent straight from the usual curve. He keeps his trash can up against the gate (as a security defense) so the suspect had to force the can back from the gate. They did not find anything missing.

BUSINESS LICENSE VIOLATIONS

On the 1800, 1900 and 2000 block of Blackbird Ln three reports were made on Thursday 06/13/24 that solicitors did not have a license. Lincoln does not have a no-solicitors code, but solicitors are required to obtain a license and show it on request. “I left it in the office” or “I left it in the car” are not acceptable excuses. Reputable businesses do not need to go door-to-door. For more information go to sclhwatch.org to see the Lincoln Police Message.

IF YOU SEE SOMETHING SAY SOMETHING

We should continue to notice strangers in our area and make a police report if we see someone suspicious. Make a note of the sex, race, age, height, weight, hair color, clothes and try to get a license number and the direction they were headed.

In an EMERGENCY call 911 for NON-emergency CALL 916 645-4040.
