JEWELRY THIEVES ARE STILL WORKING IN LINCOLN HILLS
02/12/24
A little past noon one of our residents was out walking her dog on Gold Strike Ct when the listed suspects drove up close to her. The female suspect (seated in the rear passenger seat) asked for directions to highway 80. The victim gladly gave them directions. During the conversation the female suspect said that she and her husband (vehicle driver) were from Dubai and wanted to give our resident a gift. The female suspect had a gold chain in her hand and she reached out and quickly fastened it around our resident’s neck. At the same time she was placing a ring on the resident’s finger. The suspects then drove off. When our resident got home she realized that the very expensive heirloom necklace she had been wearing was gone. The necklace and ring given by the suspect was costume jewelry.

Suspect #2: Middle Eastern female, approximately 20 – 35 yrs., No further description at this time.
Suspect vehicles: In one case was described as a smaller white SUV. In another case a “newer black Jeep”.
These suspects are apparently cruising Sun City and the vicinity looking for female victims so be aware and alert. One tipoff is the approach with someone in the back seat. The woman will say they are from Dubai. If you are approached by these suspects keep your distance. Pull out your phone, explaining you need to look up the best directions. Then take a photo of them and their license plate. Try to get their license plate number and call the police immediately. (Emergency number 911, Non-emergency number 916-645-4040) After making your police report, submit an incident report to Neighborhood Watch online or call Barry Johnson at 916 434-6538.
The Mayor of Lincoln recently received a phone call soliciting for The Model Home Program for the City of Lincoln offering new windows, roof, A/C systems etc for free, or very low cost, if you let them take pictures and use your home for advertising. THIS IS NOT A PROGRAM OFFERED BY THE CITY OF LINCOLN! At the very least they are being intentionally misleading. Remember once you open your door, you have lost your first line of defense.
Every day we all are inundated with SCAMS. They come as phone calls, emails, texts or even letters. The best way to avoid phone scams is not to answer the phone unless you recognize the caller. If it is important, the caller will leave a message. Then you can decide whether you want to respond. If in doubt contact a relative, friend or neighbor for advice. Unsolicited emails can just be deleted. The same with texts. Some scammers are very clever and can create official looking letter heads but look for misspelled words or improper grammar.
