Alert 12-09-2023

TIP OF THE DAY:

When it’s your turn to get 10 robocalls, resist the impulse to answer the phone! If you do answer, it signals that it is a live number. Let it ring. Turn off the ringer if you have to. Nomorobo.com helps but it is only free for VoIP landlines. Those are the lines provided by Internet companies. It doesn’t work for a true hard-wired landline.

AUTO BURGLARIES:

Sometime between Thursday 11/30/23 PM and Friday 12/01/23 AM some person(s) unknown entered two vehicles parked outside residences in the 1200 block of Longhorn Ln. It was reported that there was no forced entry to either vehicle. Loss, if any, to be determined. The Lincoln Police responded and took a report. Anytime you park and leave your vehicle anywhere, always close the windows, lock the doors and NEVER LEAVE ANYTHING OF VALUE IN PLAIN VIEW. (V4 backs to golf course, entrance is Lasso Lake off Sun City Blvd)

HOME BURGLARY:

One of our residents in the 400 block of Cinnabar Ct was away on vacation between 11/15/23 and 12/07/23. During that time some unknown person entered the residence and stole gift cards and the garage door opener with the house keys attached. Prior to leaving on vacation the resident had vacuumed the house including the front room and bedroom carpets. Upon returning the resident observed  a single set  of footprints from the front door and into the bedroom. Several drawers had been opened in the bedroom and closet. This is where the listed items were kept. There does not appear to be any sign of a forced entry into the residence. The police responded and made a report. Anyone with information should contact the Lincoln Police (Emergency number 911; non-emergency number call 916-645-4040.) (V38B backs to golf course, Parkside Dr & Spring Valley Pkwy, entrance is Briarcliff Ln off Parkside)

We do live in a relatively safe community, however from time to time there are opportunists/thieves who go through our villages in vehicles, bicycles, or on foot. These individuals look for easy marks such as open or unlocked doors or windows. If you observe any person or vehicle that arouses your suspicion, call the police IMMEDIATELY.  If you observe a suspicious vehicle, try to get the license plate number, and give it to the police dispatcher when you call.

PEACOCK SCAM VIA EMAIL:

False advertisement for a free 2-year subscription to the Peacock (NBC) television network. The ad states that you can get two years “free” by giving them your credit card number and other personal information.

DELIVERY PROBLEM SCAM VIA EMAIL:

This email is highlighted with a red border. It states that there is a problem with delivery of a package and that you must “Click”  on a “Red Square” in the middle of the message. This allegedly will allow you to “proceed with payment of customs fee” and correct the alleged delivery problem.

ALWAYS BEWARE OF UNSOLICITED EMAILS:

These scammers are very clever and can make the email look very official. When in doubt, ask for advice from a relative, friend, or neighbor before you respond in any way. Especially beware when the emailer demands immediate response or makes you an offer which sounds too good to be true.
