TIP OF THE DAY: During the holiday season, be wary of solicitations for cash contributions to charities. Do not contribute in response to a phone call. Tell them you only contribute in person. Learn how watchdogs such as Charity NavigatorCharityWatch and the Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance rate an organization before you make a donation, and contact your state’s charity regulator to verify that the organization is registered to raise money there.

BURGLARY: On Wednesday 11/22/23 at 7:50 PM some person(s) unknown entered a residence in the 2100 block of Caravelle Ct and stole miscellaneous jewelry and the wooden drawer which had contained the jewelry. The burglars gained entry into the residence by smashing the rear sliding glass door. The alarm was not triggered until the perpetrator(s) entered the bedroom area. The residents were away at the time; however, they were notified by the alarm company and subsequently the Lincoln Police were notified and responded. The residence was searched but the burglar(s) were gone. The rear of this residence faces open space. Anyone with information contact the Lincoln Police at 916-645-4040.

COMPUTER HACKED: A resident reports that someone hacked into her friend’s computer and sent email to people on her friend’s “contacts list.” The hacker then emailed these contacts (one was our resident) using the resident’s email address. The hacker, posing as the resident’s friend, had a long story about how she had just had surgery and it was her surgeon’s fifty sixth birthday and she wanted to give him a gift card. The hacker continued by stating that she was unable to get to the store to purchase a gift card and asked the person contacted to purchase one for her and to send her the gift card numbers. Our resident was very smart and alert and called the friend. The friend explained that her email had been hacked.
