TIP OF THE DAY:
Federal law requires each of the three nationwide consumer credit reporting companies – Equifax, Experian and TransUnion – to give you a free credit report every 12 months if you ask for it. Don’t be fooled by other look-alike websites. There is only one official website for FREE credit reports. You can also get free reports by calling call 1-877-322-8228. For more information visit https://www.usa.gov/credit-reports
ATTEMPTED THEFT:
On Tuesday, 10/24/23 at 8:15 AM one of our residents was walking home and on the corner of Barn Valley Ct and Barnswood Loop the below listed vehicle pulled to the curb next to her. The driver asked the resident for directions to highway 65. The resident gave him directions and at the same time the person in the backseat (S#2) rolled down the window and said “today is my birthday.” The resident replied back with a “happy birthday.” She (S#2) then held out her hand and took hold of the resident’s hand. This suspect (#2) then tried to put a ring on the resident’s hand. The resident remembered hearing about this type of (jewelry theft) scam and she quickly walked away. The resident then called the Lincoln Police and our Curator Security. (V29 backs to golf course & E Joiner Pkwy, entrance is Farmgate Ln off Del Webb).
SUSPECTS:
S#1: Driver: Male Olive complexion, 30-40 yrs, clean shaven, appeared to be slight build S#2: Rear seat passenger: Female, olive complexion, 30-40 yrs. wearing “typical middle eastern head wrap” Suspect vehicle: Small Ford SUV, silver color. No front license plate.
This is the fourth reported incident in the last two months, with individuals of the same description and using the same type of approach. This vehicle is different from the other incidents.
WHEN APPROACHED BY SUBJECTS ASKING DIRECTIONS, BE CAUTIOUS AND DO NOT GET TOO CLOSE TO THEIR VEHICLE.
We live in a relatively safe community, however from time to time there are opportunist thieves who drive through our villages looking for easy targets i.e., doors left open or unlocked, valuables left in plain view in vehicles.
The police cannot be everywhere; therefore, residents need to BE ALERT AND REPORT ANY SUSPICIOUS PERSONS OR VEHICLES – this is the mission of Neighborhood Watch – OBSERVE AND REPORT.
If it’s an emergency, call 911 immediately to give police time to arrive, for non-emergency call 916 645-4040.
When describing vehicles, note the license plate numbers, make and model of vehicle, color, age, and direction of travel and give this information to the dispatcher when you call.
