TIP OF THE DAY: Three years ago, the FTC launched the website Report to help fight fraud! for reporting fraud, scams, unwanted calls, or a particular company. The process has been streamlined and includes advice on what to do next. Your report is shared with 2800 law enforcers. https://reportfraud.ftc.gov

A resident in the 2000 block of Prairie View Ln reports that on Tuesday, 10/17/23 she observed the below listed suspect (Amazon Driver) going through a cabinet in her garage. She had her garage door open that day as she was having some work done on her house and the workmen were in and out. She also was expecting an Amazon delivery that day. About 1:00 PM she heard a noise in her laundry room which is just off the garage. She went into the laundry room and saw an Amazon package next to the washing machine. As she picked up the package from Amazon she looked out into the garage. She observed the below listed suspect “going through stuff in a cabinet in the garage.” She yelled “What are you doing?” He immediately fled out of the garage, got into an Amazon delivery vehicle and quickly drove off. There is no loss determined at this time.

This resident was advised to make a police report and notify Amazon. She stated that she has tried to contact Amazon but only gets an automated recording.

NOTE:  The Amazon Customer Service # is 888 280 4331 – yes, an automated voice answers – but follow the prompts – you WILL eventually speak to a person.

We live in a relatively safe community, however from time to time there are opportunist thieves who drive through our villages looking for easy targets i.e. doors left open or unlocked, valuables left in plain view in vehicles.

The police cannot be everywhere; therefore, residents need to BE ALERT AND REPORT ANY SUSPICIOUS PERSONS OR VEHICLES – this is the mission of Neighborhood Watch – OBSERVE AND REPORT.

If it’s an emergency, call 911 immediately to give police time to arrive, for non-emergency call 916 645-4040.

When describing vehicles, note the license plate numbers, make and model of vehicle, color, age, and direction of travel and give this information to the dispatcher when you call.
