Tip of the Day:  Shredding Truck is coming to Lincoln Hills Monday, April 24 8:30–11:30 AM, OC Fitness Parking Lot. It’s important to shred everything that has your name on it.

Tips to avoid scams provided by businesses:

Amazon:

  1. Will never ask you to pay on the phone.
  2. Will not pressure you to act urgently.
  3. You can report suspicious communications at amazon.com/reportascam

Bank of America warns there are 5 signs of a scam:

  1.  Asked to act immediately
  2. Asked to provide personal information or a code
  3. Asked to pay in an usual way, such as a gift card
  4. Try to confirm your identity with a verification code they send you even though they called you
  5. Insist you download apps or click links to “fix” issues or confirm information

Banks can help prevent unauthorized activity by setting up alerts for accounts:

  1. Credit card not present during a transaction
  2. Online automatic payment over an amount that you set
  3. Changes to your User ID, Password
  4. Low or overdrawn balance

PG&E

  1. Will not ask for payment by gift card or mobile payment apps
  2. Will not threaten to disconnect power if payment is not made immediately
  3. Will not ask for Social Security, credit card or PGE account numbers, or login information
  4. Will not come to your door without an appointment
  5. Report scams at 833 500-SCAM

Credit Bureaus:

Due to financial hardship resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, you can get a free credit report each week through December 2023. Normally a free report is available only once per year.
