Tip of the Day: 35% of traffic citations for over-55 drivers are issued for failure to yield right-of-way.
-
- Whichever driver arrives first (at an intersection) has the right of way.
- If two vehicles stop at same time, the vehicle on the right has right of way.
- Right-of-way is given, not taken.
At the Safety Symposium Chief Alves assured us that they are aware of complaints of people ignoring stop signs and the new Traffic Team is randomly patrolling Lincoln Hills.
Gas Theft: Gas was stolen from a truck parked in the driveway on the 900 block of Linnet Ct. This is the second time that this has happened. The owner has now installed a locking gas cap. No suspects or witnesses. (V19B backs to open space, Del Webb, Stoneridge Blvd, entrances are Monument & Winding Way, off Hidden Hills Ln)
Window Screens Cut: The neighborhood watch coordinator for V24 reports that two residents on the 1700 block of Glenbrook Ln have stated that their rear window screens had been damaged or cut. No entry gained in those incidents, however there was an LPD report of a theft in that block. At this time the victim is unknown and loss, if any, is unknown. These houses backup to open space with a walking path down from the rear of the houses.
Aggressive salesman: On the afternoon of March 28 or 29 a man with a clipboard knocked on the door of a house on the 2000 block of Prairie View Ln and asked the resident to come outside about the solar panels. She did because she was expecting someone to come and clean the solar panels. He was talking nonstop and appeared to the resident to be high. She finally convinced him to leave but he came back two more times. She didn’t come out again and kept repeating that he needed to leave.
Suspicious person: 5’ 10” age 25-30, white, brown hair, wearing shirt and casual jacket, riding an electric scooter. (V31C backs to golf course and Spring Valley Pkwy, entrances are Coldwater and Hidden Hollow, off Spring Valley)
Jury Summons Scam: A resident reports that she received a call which had the Lincoln Police phone number listed as the caller. She answered the call and a male voice told her that she had not shown up for a GRAND JURY SUMMONS. The caller had her name and address and social security number. He told her that she was subject to arrest unless she made a payment via “CREDIT CARD.” This alert resident recognized this as a scam and hung up.
We do live in a relatively safe community however from time to time there are opportunists/thieves who drive, walk or bike ride through our villages looking for an easy target. Always be aware and alert and immediately report any person or vehicle which arouses your suspicions. (Police emergency number 911; non-emergency number 916-645-4040)
One of the best ways to prevent being caught up in a scam is to monitor your phone calls and if you do not recognize the caller, don’t answer the phone! If the call is important, the caller will leave a message. When in doubt, contact a relative, friend or neighbor for advice.
