Major Vandalism: There have been two incidents of major vandalism reported here in Sun City. One case was on the 2000 block of Farmgate Ln and the second was on the 1700 block of Mary Rose Ln. In both cases the residences were “For Sale” and vacant at the time of the incidents. The unknown perpetrators forced their way into the houses where they damaged and/or destroyed the furnishings. In the case of Farmgate Ln the gas stove and electric oven had been turned on and left on for several days till discovered and reported to the Lincoln Police on 01/21/23. At this point malicious vandalism was the only motive as nothing appears to have been stolen. (Farmgate: V29 backs to Joiner Pkwy, Del Webb & golf course. Mary Rose: V30 backs to Del Webb & golf course, entrances are Barn Valley, Cottage Rose & Rose Bouquet)
Apparently, some person(s) unknown has been targeting vacant “For Sale” houses. If you have observed any suspicious activity or person(s) in or around those addresses, contact the Lincoln Police immediately. At the non-emergency number 916-645-4040
Traffic Incident Scam: On Tuesday 1/17/22 at 10:45AM one of our residents was involved in a very minor traffic accident on Sun City Blvd. Both parties stopped and examined the vehicles for any damage. Our resident could not see any damage to the other vehicle however the other driver claimed a small dent in his rusted bumper. The other party then told our resident that he would settle for $1,000 to $1,500 cash. He reluctantly gave our resident his name but refused his address. He took the resident’s name and phone number and said he would be in touch. Later that evening a person with a different name called our resident trying to make a deal. The resident turned the information over to her insurance company and did not return any calls from that person.
When involved in a minor accident do what is required by law and nothing else. Be Aware. There are con artists who intentionally cause minor accidents and attempt to pressure the other driver into a cash settlement.
