Tip of the Day: When a scammer calls, don’t worry about being rude or embarrassed. Scammers want your information to steal your money or identity. Just hang up.

Fraud: There were three attempts to defraud three of our residents. In one case an alleged “Collection Agency Representative” came to the residents house and tried to collect on an account that was not the resident’s. In the second case there were fraudulent charges on the resident’s account. In the third case the resident received a false invoice claiming the residents owed money on a fictitious purchase.
Almost every day resident’s receive emails, phone calls and sometimes official looking letters from scammers trying to relieve you of your money. We must stay alert and not answer phone calls from strangers, reply to email from unsolicited individuals or organizations, and never give out personal information to someone you don’t know. Stop and talk to someone you trust. Tell someone – a friend, a relative, a neighbor – what happened. Talking about it could help you realize it’s a scam.
Thefts from the garage are very common and allow access to the house if the door to the house is unlocked. We strongly suggest keeping your front garage door completely closed when you are not in the garage. In addition to inviting opportunist thieves, you also invite skunks, snakes, rats, and other wildlife. Consider insulating your garage door with materials available at local hardware stores. Consider buying an insulated garage door when the current door needs replacing. Installing a security door for the side door will allow you to capture the cooler night air and more air than leaving the garage door slightly open.
