Suspicious Occurrence in Lincoln Hills and Window smash at Post Office

1…(Suspicious Occurrence) On Saturday, 02/13/21 a resident on Mossy Ct reports that two females in a Tan, Small, Older Vehicle backed into the resident’s driveway. They got out of the vehicle, walked to the resident’s front door but did not ring the doorbell. Both were wearing gloves. They then lifted a front yard sprinkler drip cap apparently looking for a house key. They returned to the vehicle and drove off. The resident did not recognize either of the women.

We live in a relatively safe community, however from time to time there are opportunist thieves who drive through our villages looking for easy targets i.e. doors left open or unlocked, valuables left in plain view in vehicles.

The police cannot be everywhere, therefore residents need to be alert and report any suspicious persons or vehicles. This is the mission of Neighborhood Watch: Observe and Report.

Call IMMEDIATELY to give police time to arrive.
If it’s an emergency call 911, non-emergency call 916 645-4040.

When describing vehicles, note license plate numbers, make and model of vehicle, color, age and direction of travel and give it to the dispatcher when you call.

2….(Vehicle Burglary) A person reported that she went to our local Post Office on Tuesday, 02/16/21 at 2:45 PM. She went inside for about a minute to drop off a labeled package in the drop box. She left her purse on the front seat of her vehicle. When she returned to her vehicle some person(s) unknown had smashed the car window and had stolen her purse and contents. Within hours the perpetrators had spent close to $10,000 purchasing merchandise from Lowe’s, Big 5, Macy’s plus other stores. The Lincoln police advise that store cameras show that the purchases were made by a male and female, no further description.

Never leave anything of value in plain sight in your vehicle. This applies when your car or your guest’s car is parked in front of your house, too.

Make a habit of checking vehicles parked outside your house every night (tie it to the evening news, a particular program or set an alarm on your smart phone):

  • Garage door opener is removed from the car
  • There is nothing of value in the vehicle
  • The vehicle is locked
