Golf Cart Owners,
RE: City of Lincoln Golf Cart Registration
The Lincoln Police Department has currently suspended the Golf Cart Registration Program until July 31, 2020, due to Covid-19 concerns. Though a Golf Cart does not need to be registered with the DMV, the Lincoln Police Department is following the DMV’s registration extension guidelines.
DMV has issued the following regarding registration extension(s):
“On March 18, 2020, the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) requested California law enforcement use their flexibility and discretion for 60 days in their enforcement of driver license and vehicle registration expiration due dates beginning March 16, 2020.
Governor Newsom signed Executive Order (EO) N-54-20 granting extensions for customers on several DMV deadlines including the suspension on of Vehicle Code sections 4000(a)(1) and 5204(a) pertaining to the registration and registration display requirements for vehicles operated upon a highway until June 30, 2020.”
With this said, the Lincoln Police Department still requires a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance when operating a golf cart on a public street. The Lincoln Police Department thanks you for understanding in this matter, and will provide updates when the Golf Cart registration program is reinstated.
