Coronavirus is at the top of everyone’s mind these days. While it’s important not to panic, it does make sense to stay informed and follow basic tips to protect yourself and those around you.

The good news is that the risk of getting coronavirus in the U.S. is currently low. However, like with the seasonal flu, older adults and those with chronic health conditions are at higher risk of being impacted if the illness does spread.

The symptoms of coronavirus are fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing. The symptoms can appear in as few as 2 days or as long as 14 days after exposure.

We Are Prepared.

The Sun City Lincoln Hills Community Association is developing response strategies to help slow the spread of respiratory viruses (in particular COVID-19) in the community. Our strategies will focus on Non-Pharmaceutical Interventions (NPIs) that can be employed before the disease occurs in the community, as well as steps that can be taken in the event the disease occurs in the community and afterwards.

A COVID-19 Response Team is being put together to evaluate NPIs for SCLH staff and residents to include:

  • Workplace issues and polices
  • Event and meeting strategies
  • Environmental strategies that can be employed
  • Communications to the community and liaisons with public health entities

Recently, the Association Facilities Department increased frequency of sanitizing faucets, door hardware, and countertops multiple times per day, and will continue this practice.

  • Lifestyle and Fitness personnel is wiping down front desk countertops as well.
  • Fitness is asking all residents to take extra precautions in both gyms, and wipedown the equipment with the provided gym wipes, before and after each use.
  • We are increasing the number of hand sanitizer stations at both the Orchard andKilaga Lodges.

How can you protect yourself?

You can assist our efforts by taking the following steps as recommended by the Center for Disease Control (CDC). Practice everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses, including:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your mouth or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
