Phone Version of the Apple Scam
An alert resident reported that she received an automated phone message alleging to be from Apple. As above, the message indicated that her account was compromised and will shut down immediately unless she responds by calling a certain number. With caller ID spoofing, the scammer is able to show Apple as the caller and the correct Apple customer service number. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT COMPUTER COMPANIES ARE NOT GOING TO CALL OR EMAIL YOU TO NOTIFY YOU OF A PROBLEM. The short list: Discover Neighborhood Watch in three easy Steps: 1. Find us at sclhwatch.org .
