4…Our area is constantly being bombarded by Scam phone calls, emails and sometimes letters. One of the latest reported scams was a “Threatening email” in which the scammer said that the resident’s personal information would be put out on the “Dark Web” if he did not buy $1,000 worth of “BitCoins” within two days of the email. The Scammer had somehow obtained part of this resident’s “13 character” password. The Scammer also alleged the he/she had control of the resident’s computer camera, and would publish personal photos on the “Dark Web”.
WE DO LIVE IN A RELATIVELY SAFE COMMUNITY HOWEVER, FROM TIME TO TIME, THERE ARE OPPORTUNISTS/CRIMINALS WHO DRIVE THROUGH OUR VILLAGES LOOKING FOR AN EASY TARGET.
ALWAYS LOCK YOUR DOORS AND WINDOWS WHEN NOT IN USE. NEVER OPEN YOUR DOOR TO A STRANGER. TALK TO THEM THRU THE DOOR OR FROM A NEARBY WINDOW. ONCE YOU OPEN THAT FRONT DOOR, YOU LOSE THE SAFETY PROVIDED BY THAT BARRIER!!!
IF YOU SEE ANY SUSPICIOUS PERSON(S) OR VEHICLE CALL THE POLICE “IMMEDIATELY.” Emergency 911; Non-emergency 916 645-4040
