Recent Scam Attempts in Lincoln Hills

Almost daily our residents are contacted by phone, email or letter, or approached at their home with various types of SCAMS. Here are some of the most recent :

1…..One of our residents received an official sounding phone call, allegedly from the Social Security office. The “robocall” message told the resident that they were confirming her message stated further that if the resident did not return the call with the information, a warrant would be issued for her arrest. This resident was very smart and did not return the call. She did contact the Social Security office and confirmed that this was a SCAM.

2….. Another resident received a call allegedly from “KAISER HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATION.” The FEMALE caller said that she was verifying this resident’s “Kaiser Membership Number” and “Date of Birth.” The resident was caught off guard and gave the caller the requested information. The resident then became suspicious and checked with Kaiser. It was a SCAM and the Area Code for the SCAMMER was registered in Durham, NC.

To date, there does not appear to have been any use of this resident’s membership services by the SCAMMER.

3….. Two residents have had “Solicitors” come to their doors alleging that they are working with PG&E, and have a new program which will reduce the PGE monthly bill. In one incident the two “Solicitors” were wearing uniform shirts with a company name, an alleged ALTERNATIVE GAS SERVICE. They wanted to see the resident’s PG&E bill to gather rate information. One other resident stated that the person who came to the door said his name was “Jacob.”In both of these incidents the “Solicitors” were polite and there was no apparent threat to the resident, but the residents suspected that this may have been a “Scam” to gain entry into their homes.

You should ask them to leave a card with their identifying information. Individual suppliers of gas or electricity may call or visit.

Call PG&E at 1-877-660-6789 M-F 7am-9pm, Sat 8am-6pm to find out if they are legitimate. Or email customerserviceonline@pge.com
