FYI:NextDoor Invitations

We have had several more questions regarding letters from NextDoor  asking residents to “join” NextDoor.

NextDoor is a private website WHICH IS NOT RELATED TO THE LINCOLN HILLS NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH. Similar to the Yahoo group, NextDoor is a place to post information on various topics. However, neither website is the place to notify the police or Neighborhood Watch of an incident.

ALWAYS CALL LINCOLN POLICE DEPARTMENT FIRST!
Call IMMEDIATELY to give police time to arrive.
If it’s an emergency call 911, non-emergency call 916 645-4040

Click here to report an incident to Neighborhood Watch on our website SCLHWatch.org.

If it’s easier, you can also send an email to SCLHWatchAlerts@watch.lincal.org but the online report lists the information we need:

  • Name and contact information for the person making the report
  • Victim’s name and contact information
  • Was it a theft from a house or vehicle?
  • Was it suspicious activity?
  • Was it a scam?
  • What happened?

If you received a letter from NextDoor and you do not want to join, then throw it away, just as you would any other advertisement.

If your name was used in a letter sent by NextDoor to your neighbors without your permission, you can lodge a complaint by calling the NextDoor Privacy Department in San Francisco at 415-569-7971 or email privacy@nextdoor.com.

Discover Neighborhood Watch in three easy Steps:

  1. Find us at sclhwatch.org .
  2. Click on Alerts, just above the photos. There you will see all the Alerts sent out since the new website went live in June, 2018.
  3. Click on SECURITY in the menu bar with the brown background. Review many flyers dealing with safety tips.
