It’s that time of year again for coyote sightings. They are in search of prey and water and will be out more often as the weather heats up and water supply dries up. They do prey on small pets. While walking your pets keep them close to you. Don’t let them wander into the bushes!! Do not leave pets in the yard unsupervised.
A resident reports that he encountered a coyote walking up Ridge Top Ln on 4/6/19 in the late afternoon/dusk, and he was within 20 feet of him/her as it crossed the street. Later, on his return coming down Ridge Top, the same coyote approached him from the side (coming up from the open field). However, this time the coyote did not pass through the wooden post fence. In this instance, the coyote was within 10 feet of him as he walked by the fence “barrier” on the sidewalk. Three days later, he saw two coyotes also walking on Ridge Top. The coyotes looked curiously at him but did not bother him.
(Ridge Top Ln runs between Spring Valley Pkwy & Deep Springs Ln, bisecting golf course and there are also walking trails in the area.)
This is only one report of sightings but they will be seen throughout Lincoln Hills. If you see this type of wildlife, immediately spread the word to nearby neighbors and notify the Village Coordinator so they can send a notice to the village. We will not be sending an Alert to report on every sighting.
