Almost daily the “Scammers” are contacting residents of our community trying various types of “Scams.” These “Scams”are many and varied. They include: emails, phone calls and letters !!
Recently one of our residents received a phone call where the caller said he was with “Apple Support Group”. The resident allowed him take over her computer to “Fix Things”. When he was done he directed the resident to get an “Apple iTunes Card for $100” and to give him the card number. The next day he called back and said that the card didn’t work. He instructed her to go buy a “Google Play card for $400” and give him that number. This resident ended up purchasing several additional cards and giving the “Scammer” those numbers. Finally a clerk at Walgreens advised her that she was being “Scammed.” Her loss totaled over $1,000. A police report was made.

These “Scammers” can be very convincing when they call.!!!! Always be wary of any calls when you don’t know the person calling.!! When in doubt about a caller, just get their number, hang-up and confer with a relative, friend or neighbor. DO NOT let the caller rush you !!
