Carjacking Arrest

A 32 year-old suspect of Lincoln has been arrested for a carjacking that occurred in Lincoln.

On January 18, 2018 an unknown suspect pushed an 83 year-old woman to the ground and forcibly took her car keys from her hand. He then fled in her vehicle but left one of his shoes behind at the scene. The shoe was sent to the California Department of Justice crime lab in hopes that DNA would identify the suspect.

On February 19th officers from the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office approached a parked, suspicious vehicle in Danville. The driver quickly accelerated away and led them on a brief pursuit. The vehicle was found abandoned and police officers from another agency contacted Sterner, who was walking in the area. The suspect was identified by the first officer as the one who had been in the driver’s seat at the initial contact. A check of the vehicle’s VIN revealed that it was the vehicle stolen during the carjacking in Lincoln on January 18th. Suspect was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle and several Placer County warrants.

The suspects DNA was found on the shoe that was left at the crime scene, which allowed detectives to arrest him for the additional charge of carjacking g and elder abuse. He remains in the South Placer Jail.
