The Neighborhood Watch Symposium was held Thursday, March 29, 2018. The featured speakers were Police Chief Doug Lee and Fire Chief Bill Hack. Chief Lee began his presentation with the details of the arrest of the carjacking suspect. There is a Facebook post copied in the March 29, 2018 Alert.

Police Chief Lee’s Tips:

Tips to make your house a hard target (most have already been suggested by Neighborhood Watch):

  • Make sure your garage door is closed and vehicle locked at all times
  • Leave a light on inside while your are gone at night
  • Leave outdoor lights on at night
  • Motion sensor lights by each door
  • Make sure household items and valuables are fully insured
  • Keep a record of valuables, include photos & recd serial numbers
  • Do not leave keys to your home or car in hiding places
  • Camera mounted above front door with a green light invites the burglar to look up & provide a great photo
  • Now is Prime time for mail break-ins due to tax refunds in the mail
  • When calling 911 from a CELL, your location is not exact. It shows the nearest tower

When to call 9-1-1:

DO Call:

  • Medical emergency
  • Report a fire
  • Stop a crime in progress
  • Report an accident that just happened

Do NOT Call 9-1-1:   (call 916-645-4040)

  • Report an electrical outage (call PG&E)
  • Noise complaints (barking dogs, loud party, etc)
  • Burst water pipes & other non-emergencies

Burglar Alarms in 2017:

  • Lincoln PD responded to 1314 alarm calls
  • 3 of those resulted in burglary investigations

Fire Chief Hack’s tips:

  • ALWAYS pull to the right when you hear sirens. Fire fighters are NOT allowed to pass on the right
  • Fire Dept is required to arrive within a shorter time than ambulances
