Lincoln Police Department
***Carjacking Update***
On Monday, February 19th , officers from a Bay Area law enforcement agency approached a parked, suspicious vehicle. The driver quickly accelerated away and led them on a brief pursuit. The vehicle was found abandoned and police officers from another agency contacted a person walking nearby. He was identified by the first officer as the one who had been in the driver’s seat at the initial contact. The vehicle had “Carmax” paper plates, but a check of the VIN revealed that it was the vehicle stolen during the carjacking in Lincoln on January 18th, 2018. The male subject, who is from Lincoln and is on probation, was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle and several Placer County warrants.
Efforts to change the appearance of the vehicle had been made since it was stolen. Lincoln Police Detectives are continuing their investigation to determine the individual’s connection to the initial crime. We will release the identity and photo if and when the individual responsible for the carjacking is arrested.
